How do you stay entertained when you are snowed in?

I live in a suburb of Chicago Illinois and being “snowed” in seems to be something that is not heard of where I am at.  It’s almost like if the weather is bad the more people go out in it.   Maybe there is a challenge there but I personally don’t see why people have to go out in any kind of bad weather.  If there is a Tornado warning, people go out in it.  If there is a high wind advisory, people go out in it.  If you recall this past year a football practice was being played and a Notre Dame Student died on a lift.

More than 1,000 people — including Declan Sullivan’s parents and members of the Notre Dame football team — gathered at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the university Thursday night for a Mass celebrating his life.

As the majestic church in the shadow of the university’s famed golden dome reached capacity, hundreds of students stood outside holding candles and listening to the service over loud speakers.

It was Notre Dame at its best: a large family coming together to share its grief and support one another.

Sullivan, a student videographer, was atop a scissor lift Wednesday filming football practice when the lift either blew over or collapsed during a wind advisory. On Thursday, university officials had few answers about why the accident occurred and sidestepped questions about Sullivan’s Twitter feed that indicated the junior from suburban Long Grove was terrified as wind gusts swirled about him.

During a homily that moved mourners to tears, the Rev. Tom Doyle described Sullivan as a storyteller who led a bright and brilliant life.

It would be too cynical to say Sullivan’s love of film making led to his death, Doyle said.

“You know that telling stories through the lens of a camera was how Declan lived, not how he died,” Doyle said.

After the Mass, which was attended by Sullivan’s parents and two younger siblings, mourners placed their arms around each other and sang the school’s Alma Mater. Several football players — who lead Notre Dame fans in singing the song following home football games — could be seen wiping away tears.

“At times like this there is no more special place than Notre Dame,” Notre Dame Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick said earlier in the day. ” I have been so honored to be part of the extraordinary response of the university to assist the family, to assist the students of Notre Dame, the members of he football program.”

As he exited the church, university President Rev. John Jenkins shook hands and hugged many of the hundreds of mourners gathered outside.”

If I was snowed in, I would sleep the day away and not go outside.  What would you do?
