Post #21 post2011 Challenge Links/Tags

http://www.themiraclealchemist.com This is my friend Cheril and you will love her site.

Today is January 20th and I just got home from work.  I have copied, pasted, read, subscribed and “liked” the above posts for the post2011 challenge.  It amazes me that everyone posts on the “main page” to Scott (who created postaday2011 challenge); but the bloggers are not doing what I do.  Okay maybe I am desperate but I love to read and learn from others so checking out each blog interests me.  What I don’t get is that everyone seems to have the same exact problem of not getting subscribers or “likes” or stuff like that.  I write for the fun of it and the challenge to see if I can actually post “a day” and meet that challenge for 2011.  That is just me, a person who loves a challenge.  It would seem to me that everyone on this challenge obviously loves the challenge as well.  I would love to hear comments of how it is going with the other bloggers on this challenge if you so desire to do so.  Have a great blogging day and week and I will post tomorrow as promised.

Hey, this is Luciano from Litemind~A site you need to see!
Imagine you have some important work to do at the computer. I bet you know the drill: you sit down to get it done… but then resistance kicks in. You want to check that last email (“just this one, really!”). And then you go for that last news check (“quickly, I promise!”). And Facebook. And Twitter… You know how this story ends: suddenly, your day is gone.

It happens too often, doesn’t it?

To avoid that problem, one trick that works really well for me is to set the ‘start page’ (or ‘home page’) in my browser to a page that reminds me to focus on what I should really be doing.
Every time I open the browser, I have an extra checkpoint — yet another chance — to escape from automatic behaviors that could sidetrack me.

To understand exactly what I mean, check the start page I use:
http://litemind.com/on-task.html

Granted, sometimes the urge to procrastinate wins regardless, but this saves me from getting sidetracked almost every day. The advice on the byline is just too wise to ignore — the reason it works so well for me is because it reminds me it’s all about choices, not about forcing myself to work.

If you like the idea of having a “focus start page” and don’t want to create your own, feel free to use the one I created. You can even steal it and save it locally to a folder on your computer so that it loads even faster.

Here it is again:

Anyway, as this works really well for me, I figured it could help you as well. 🙂
If you try it, let me know how it goes!

All the best,
Luciano

I would love to hear comments of how it is going with the other bloggers on this challenge if you so desire to do so. Have a great blogging day and week and I will post tomorrow as promised.

    Hi Janet,
I am having the same problem that you are as far as people visiting my articles. At first blush,I have not tagged them correctly so far. So I printed out the list of the highest posts to what “TAG.” I forget where and how I found it. Sorry.

I have not read enough of others posts, but since I still blog on Newsvine, and have about 300+ active friends, I have split my usual face-to-face computer time. If I spend too much my wife rebels!!!

As we add loyal friends, I think it will improve. But, I’m with you, I am searching for a more efficient way to communicate, sans so many irrelevant emails.
    That’s my $.02 cents worth.

    Take care, Charlie

Hi Jackie, Vicki or however you’d like to be known. In the face-to-face world it’s important to me to address people as they prefer. Shouldn’t be any different here. But it’s often difficult to know people by anything other than their blog name.

Happy to meet you by whatever name. And thanks for stopping by to meet me. Not sure how you found me but I’m glad you did.

Like you, I’m writing for my own sake and don’t make a habit of checking my stats or trying to boost “likes” or “views”. If it happens, I’ll be happy. But as long as I write something every day, I’m happy. And the reading I’ve been introduced to along the way is a wonderful bonus.

I’m new to the blogosphere but enjoying it very much. I look forward to reading your posts and getting to know you better.

Thanks for taking up the challenge. It’s a much nicer world when we tackle things together. 🙂

hey there, a nice post. Erm I do my post’s for 2 reasons I guess. 1 is I really would like to complete the daily post challenge along with a photo challenge i’m doing. secondly i do check my stats only because it pleases me that someone has given me a little bit of time of their day to read my post or blog. Some day’s I find it quite tough it terms of subject/topic but am enjoying the challenge. Best of luck for the post a day challenge

    Tim
